Entry 4: Every Friday as Promised…

With a twist!

I am posting on time as I said I would except… See this week I’ve been working on lot of pieces but none are quite done yet, and of those done I have yet to upload them digitally. So for this week I will be going for a throwback vibe by posting artwork that I did a while ago.

They may not be real pretty, but it shows some ideas I’ve been working through for a long time. Also how far I’ve come with my style and technique. It’s always good to reflect on the past, so long as you learn from it and don’t stay too long.

Artwork shown from oldest to newest, roughly. I’ll be posting the new stuff next week, till then please enjoy and thank you for stopping by!

Two Werewolves

Long ago…

Crayon on Paper

Description: You got to start somewhere, and this is where I started when I was about 8 years old… Lots of practice, but look at them grass markings *chef’s kiss*

Daring for Cover

Before 2017

Pencil and sketch paper

Description: Was working on at least getting faces in my work, which I may not have done in a lot of my really early pieces and by that I mean high school. Plus hands, hands were a feat to work on as well.

Wall Swinging

2018

Pencil and sketch paper

Description: Really working on movement in this piece and the physicality of how to show what I wanted, which was someone wall running. Not sure if it made it there quite yet, but it was a start.

Unfinished Transformation Sketch

2019

Pencil and sketch paper

Description: Sometimes sketches go unfinished, and this is one of them. I’ve redone this picture a few ways, but this one is a favorite of mine cause the unfinished look makes it seem like a white out caused by the transformation… or maybe just a half done sketch, you decide.

Silhouette and Iris, “Imagination”

December 2019

Pencil and printer paper

Description: Silhouette making a funny reference to Iris in a funny moment… on a funny piece of paper

Stagehand Notes Gone Wild Part 2

December 2019

Pencil and Printer Paper

Description: You know that sketch above, yeah, it came from this as you can see. If you ever wondered what I would do between cues as a stagehand runner, it’s doodle, checkmark and make notes… now you know.

First Instance of Time

Spring of 2021

Pencil and Paper

Description: First working idea of what time would look like, I’ve stayed pretty close to this since then.

Resketch of Scars

April 2020

Pencil on sketch paper

Description: Was resketching some old pieces of mine to see how far I’d come between (and possibly during) zoom classes. I did quite a few resketches during that time… not sure what that says about me…

Just a little longer…

May 2020

Pencil and sketch paper

Description: Yet another resketch, but a very worthy one at least to me. Trust me you do not want to see the other one.

Blitz Gen

Pencil and sketch paper

Spring of 2021

Description: Was doing a lot of group photo sketches which included this ragtag grouping here, what a team.

In-between Meeting Discussions

Spring 2021

Pencil and sketch paper

Description: May or may not have been sketching during class, specifically in one of Dr. Swenson’s classes, which I actually learned a ton in. I just like to multi task, focusing is hard sometimes. As you may have noticed with some of my writings.

March Watercolor

Spring of 2021

Pencil, watercolor pencils and watercolor paper

Description: Wacky new character that came about just about when color started to seep into my artwork more often.

Tiger Quick-Paint

Spring of 2021

Pen, acrylic pain, and mixed media paper

Description: This was an hour paint exercise, definitely not perfect, but one of my better capturing’s of this character in the early days.

Stopwatch vs DM

Summer of 2021

Pencil and sketch paper

Description: Duality of a character of mine through the decades. Pretty fun note to end on considering the timely implications.

That’s all I’m posting today, to be fair it was a little more expansive than I originally thought, but a good look to the past. As you might have caught only at the beginning and the end was color involved. It hasn’t been an easy option till the last few years, pencil was where I did a lot initially and where I usually start still.

Hope you enjoyed, till next week!
